Police have offered a suggested framework for parties sharing information generated by serious case reviews and a criminal prosecution. Apparently this has been agreed by the CPS and the Association of independent LSCB Chairs.
“This is not a protocol. The material in this document is not intended to be prescriptive and those using it should tailor it to suit the unique requirements of the situation they are dealing with and the resources that are available to them. However, it may be of interest that the previous edition of this document was cited at a pre trial disclosure hearing in the case of R v Rees and others at Bristol Crown Court, by a High Court Judge Mr Justice Maddison, who referred to several sections of the Guidance and commented, “In my view, the Guide is a helpful document” with “eminently sensible” suggestions.”
